Nederlandse Loterij, the Dutch lottery, has a long history that began nearly 300 years ago with our first lottery drawing. The landscape of lotteries and iGaming has changed significantly in recent years. It has become crucial to continue to develop and innovate to provide a sustainable and future-proof product offering. In this open call, we are seeking new partnerships with entrepreneurs and businesses to make our products future-proof.
Step into the time machine and travel back to the year 1726. The year in which the very first Staatsloterij (State Lottery) drawing took place, with 120,000 tickets being sold for 20 guilders each. The excitement was palpable because there was a whopping 30,000 guilders to be won. The drawing itself took several days, with each ticket being drawn one by one to leave no doubt about its fairness. This marked the beginning of the Staatsloterij: one of the oldest, still-operating lotteries in the world.
Now, nearly 300 years later, the Oudejaarstrekking (New Year's Eve drawing) of the Staatsloterij sells over 7 million tickets. Today more than half of our players purchase their tickets online. And the drawing itself? It's completely digitized and takes place with a simple push of a button.
A lottery exists to raise funds for the greater good and to provide an attractive and legal gambling offering. The demand for lotteries and gambling may be timeless, but its execution keeps evolving. We believe that the future of lotteries and gambling may look different, and that's what this challenging open call is all about. We are searching for parties with a vision for our future product offerings and a solution that brings us closer to it.
Do you have solutions for making our products future-proof, ensuring our relevance in 5, 10, 20 or 300 years? We look forward to receiving your submission!
